After a highly successful first season, the much-anticipated second season of Cinelatino’s original series, El Desconocido: La Historia del Cholo Adrián (8×60’) (The Unknown Hitman: The Story of El Cholo Adrián), will premiere exclusively in the U.S. on Cinelatino, on Sunday, March 17, at 11pm ET/8pm PT.
Following the season two premiere, new episodes will air every Sunday at 11pm ET/8pm PT.
The context of season two continues to be the power struggle between the army, the state, and the cartels, but the story explores the sacrifices endured by those who live in the narco world and the personal damage the drug trade inflicts on organizations, families, relationships, parenthood, and friendships.
“Cinelatino is an expert at storytelling for Latin audiences and this series is a testament to the strength of our original production arm. We look forward to producing more unique and top-caliber content for audiences in the U.S. and around the world,” said Jim McNamara, co-executive producer of the El Desconocido franchise and vice chairman of Hemisphere Media Group, Cinelatino’s parent company.
“We sought to capture the personal cost of the drug war—the inability to have a safe family life, to have genuine relationships, or to work freely as an artist or journalist. The frailty of these vital freedoms is one of the main themes of this season and we’re confident it will strike a chord with viewers,” said Carolina Bilbao, co-executive producer of the El Desconocido franchise and EVP of Programming and Development for Hemisphere.
