Cinelatino is set to air the U.S. television premiere of the Mexican box office hit Compadres on Monday, December 24, at 7pm. The hilarious buddy cop film will air again on Tuesday, December 25.
Compadres made its debut in Mexico in March of 2016 and became the second highest-grossing film of the year, making its way to the U.S. in April of 2017, where it had a top 10 opening weekend in the box office and ranked #2 among new releases.
The hilarious, action-packed film stars Omar Chaparro as a former Mexican cop who, after being released from prison, seeks revenge on the man who kidnapped his girlfriend and framed him for a crime he didn’t commit.
“When you have a film that performs well theatrically both in the U.S. and Mexico, you have a recipe for television success,” commented James M. McNamara, Vice Chairman of Hemisphere Media Group, Inc., Cinelatino’s parent company. “The never-ending banter and hilarious repartee between Omar, a Mexican born actor, and Eric, an American born actor, epitomizes the essence of a buddy cop comedy and brings together two different cultures joining forces to reach one goal. Combine that with a stellar cast and you have yourself a great film that the whole family can enjoy.”
In addition to Compadres, Cinelatino has prepared a full weekend lineup of hits on Christmas weekend. Beginning on Saturday, December 22, with the Dominican comedy, Santi Clo; the first ever Czech-Mexican movie featuring Aislinn Derbez, Milagro en Praga; also, Nosotros los Nobles; and the highest-grossing Latino movie of 2015, Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos, among others.
