Cisneros Interactive: Market leans towards OTT platforms

One of the main undertakings of Cisneros Interactive is extending TV to other screens, told PRODU Víctor Kong, president of the division. He claims the market leans in that direction, but people need time to adopt these new ways of consuming content.“We’re having several discussions about how to expand the TV screen, and already have concrete projects to execute. This issue is coming up in some countries and some channels already have the digital platform as their extension, but very few have a simultaneous feed through an app. In many cases it’s a matter of rights and of cost, but these are the kind of things we’re looking at,” said Kong.Regarding the growth of the OTT platforms, Kong said it’s slow in Latin America, where “the main obstacle is the issue of rights, but there will surely be an evolution. Platforms such as Netflix already compete in several countries, and we’re paying attention because it’s a good option for the consumer, but they need time to adopt them in Latin America.”
