A new FAST Channel strictly with the content of Mexican films of varied genres is Delart Distribution’s new bet. It is called Mi Raza Canal and was announced in the context of MIP Cancun.
“It will have genres such as narco, comedy, and sexy comedies. We have over 800 films, that is, around 1,200 hours, and, at first, we would deliver 100 films, that is to say, 150 hours. This has been very attractive because we would have enough to conduct a 30% refresh of the channel every three months” explained Arturo Chavez, partner and manager of Delart Distribution.
The executive mentioned that they are in negotiations with three of the industry’s major players to place the channels on platforms. Likewise, they will officially start selling in mid-December next year: “For the first quarter of 2024 we expect to have a distribution channel”.
Mi Raza Canal will be nourished mainly by Mexican production companies that make films that have found on YouTube the best way to get their stories seen. “They have channels with 1.2 million subscribers. The distribution of FAST and VOD has grown so much that it has become the first window. It doesn’t make sense for the films to be made and have no one watch them, and, sometimes, for many to reach theatrical is difficult, so these options are a great opportunity.”
