With Narcos it was the first time that Gabriel Ripstein, producer and director, directed on request. “I was invited to direct a block of that third season in Colombia.”
He mentioned that it was a very interesting exercise, although a bit complex because, in his previous experiences, he was the lord and master of all the decisions.
He also adopted a romantic comedy. La Boda de Mi Mejor Amigo, “that I think Sony Pictures will launch next year”, produced by his cousin Daniel Birman, with whom he also developed a series on El Crimen del Padre Amaro, 18 Años Después. Where is the character of Father Amaro? It is a series that was aired on Televisa and will be written and developed together with them.”
Likewise, he has a couple of ideas for films that he has been writing for approximately two years. A personal, “weird, not commercial film. I want to see if I make it.”
Regarding series, he explained that there is a possibility that telling stories in 10 or in 20 hours gives you, and there are projects that he is checking out with “producer and writer friends who are looking for content and we can make interesting alliances.”
