With over 20 years of experience in television, Thiago Teitelroit is now joining Floresta, a Sony Pictures Television production company in Brazil, as Creative Director. In this role, he will focus on fiction, specifically the development of television dramas and international projects. Teitelroit will report to Adriana “Dida” Silva, VP and managing director, and Flavia Morete, executive Content director.
“Thiago joins Floresta at a time when we are increasingly expanding our fiction department, with eyes set on the demands of the domestic and international markets. He will certainly contribute to the creation of new projects and bring even more artistic value to fiction projects. It will be a very prosperous blend of his vast experience in Brazilian television with all the structure that Floresta can offer,” comments Dida Silva.
The news follows Floresta’s recent expansion in the area of scripted projects. In the past few months, projects have been announced including Luz, the first Brazilian kids and family series on Netflix, and Da Ponte Pra Lá, the new teen drama series Max Originals with the premiere scheduled for 2024, among others. In addition, Floresta has been investing in the acquisition of copyrights of books to adapt and TV movies.
“Floresta has an excellent relationship with the best professionals and players in the market, in addition to a structure capable of handling a huge volume of production with extremely high quality. Collaborating in an environment with this potential is a challenge that strongly inspires me. If there are people and a place in Brazil ready for a demand that matches the country’s large communication companies, that place is here”, shares Teitelroit.
The relationship between the director and the production company is a long one. Teitelroit has directed the series TOC’s de Dalila (season 2, 2017), was part of the Rio Connection (2023) directing team, and served as the director of Luz. Besides that, the director has in his portfolio highly successful Brazilian soap operas such as Cordel Encantado (2011), Avenida Brasil(2012), and Totalmente Demais (2015).
