Disney Media Distribution Latin America, BTF Media, Moconoco and LatinWE announced the production of the series El Secreto de Selena, based on the eponymous bestseller, written by the journalist María Celeste Arrarás, who had exclusive access to the story’s main characters.
“El Secreto de Selena is the revealing story behind her tragic death. It is an entirely different story from the official version,” explained Arrarás in a statement.
The series is comprised by 13 episodes and will be on the screens of TNT for Latin America and TV Azteca for Mexico.
“We are happy to take this unpublished piece to the small screen. I have no doubt that this will be very well received and successful in the TV market,” stated Fernando Barbosa, senior Distribution and Production VP at Disney Latin America.
Luis Balaguer, founder and CEO of LatinWE, expressed that he believes the audience is going to love the series, mainly for being based on a book by Arrarás. “She is a credible journalist with a long career path”.
“This alliance will translate into a great production” said Francisco Cordero, CEO of BTF Media.
