For the new season 2021-2022, CNN en Español presented a list of original documentaries, from the parent company and others acquired. María Celeste Arrarás, who joined the Domingo de Gigantes programming, together with Mario Kreutzberger with Don Francisco: Reflexiones; will host CNN Docufilms.
“Our strength is that we are backed by the CNN network and we take advantage of that support and that family bond, to be able to bring out the best for our audience in Spanish, in addition to what we originally produced,” said Cynthia Hudson, SVP and managing director of CNN en Español and Hispanic Strategy for CNN/USA.
Among the contents to come are Stanley Tucci Searching for Italy; First Ladies, narrated by Robin Wright; Lincoln Divided We Stand, narrated by Sterling Brown, and Diana, a la Cabeza de un Cuento de Hadas; and among the CNN Docufilms are Lucha Libre and Bond, el Espía Que Amo of Sabbatical.
One of the first documentaries to come out will be Siempre, Luis, an original HBO production -only for the United States and Puerto Rico-, that tells the story of Luis A. Miranda Jr., an activist of the Puerto Rican community, prominent New York political consultant and who lived in the Washington Heights neighborhood for a long time. Siempre, Luis debuts on Sunday, June 20th at 7pm.
Other shows mentioned: Los Inusuales, Directo USA Éxito Latino (Rubén Blades), En Marcha, CNN Héroes, CNN Café, Camilo, Clix, Conclusiones, Directo USA, Destinos, Showbiz, Showbiz La Lista (with Top awards, Top movies, Top music videos, among others), Noche de Estrellas, coverage of Latin Grammys, Grammy Awards and Oscars; Deportes CNN and Triunfadores del Deporte.
Other initiatives that will be crucial in 2021-2022 for CNN en Español are its series Proyecto Ser Humano, as well as the special programming and coverage around Hispanic Heritage Month; and the coverage of the Latino’s vote of the 2022 midterm elections process.
