The film El Encierro, the first production of Matacha Films from Mexico distributed by Renovatio Films at an international level, was launched digitally on September 1 on the platforms Mowies (worldwide) and VIX TV (US and Latin America, including Brazil). The film, directed by Rubén Arciniegas, Colombian nationalized Mexican actor and producer, is a gaze into intimacy in times of pandemic.
“The film will also be placed on Amazon Prime Video US and Latin America, the same as other Colombian and Venezuelan films of our own, and under our representation in common handling with Ammo Content -Huellas by the Colombian director and actor Carlos Vergara, Aquel Septiembre by the director Tania Cardona Díaz, and La Gran Pelea, by the Venezuelan director Luis Ceraza-. These three were recently launched on Amazon Prime in the region,” commented Max Henríquez Camargo, Executive Producer and Director of Digital Content at Renovatio Films and Matacha Films.
He explains that the shooting took place in Mexico City, amidst the quarantine, and with the corresponding safety measures, from May to July this year, with a reduced group of artists from Colombia and Mexico.
Part of the cast included Nelly Lacayo, Hugo Archila, Alexa Anaya, Emmanuel Bañuelos, Rubén Arciniegas, among others.
The scripts were developed by the Colombian Rubén Darío Triana Valencia and Arciniegas. Max Henríquez Camargo (filmmaker, producer, and director from Bogota, based in Mexico City) and Arciniegas led the executive production. The original music was written and interpreted by the Mexicans Alejandro Solís and Manuel Bautista.
