Andrés Tovar, Executive Producer of El Mall, spoke with PRODU about the broadcast premiere of the series Gossip Girl Acapulco this Monday 11th at 10pm in the PM block of Televisa’s Canal Cinco. It seeks to attract a younger audience and plans to continue producing high-quality local series.“We did really well on pay-TV, and now that Latino content is hot in the U.S., we’ve also done well on UniMás. This motivates us to continue producing this type of content to attract the younger audience back to Canal Cinco. Otherwise, we’ll have to continue consuming dubbed series from the U.S. and even some from Colombia,” said Tovar. For him, it’s necessary to offer something additional for those who already watched it on pay-TV. To this end, they will offer in commercial time on PM, exclusive behind-the-scenes content, and special and deleted scenes. Being a series that deals with the digital world and social networks, Tovar also said it will have content exclusive to these media, “through a heavy promotional effort we’ll be pushing virally during the launch of Canal Cinco.”Finally, he announced the script for the second season is in the works, and that shooting will start in February of 2014. I will take about four months and will feature special guests and will have technical and editorial improvements as a result from the lessons learned on the first season.
