Endemol Shine Boomdog is working on producing original unscripted content for 2025, confirmed Frank Scheuermann, the company’s Chief Content Officer for Unscripted, in an interview with PRODU.
He explained that they’re collaborating closely with other Banijay teams, making the MIPCOM gathering essential, especially in working with teams from Europe. “We’re putting a lot of effort into, hopefully by next year, developing originals crafted by my team,” he shared. The Endemol Shine Boomdog development team is also focused on extending existing projects, generating additional content, and adapting them to various budgets. “They’re constantly brainstorming new ideas and monitoring market trends,” he added. The Cannes event also allowed them to connect with their counterparts from Brazil and the U.S.
OVER A THOUSAND HOURS PRODUCED
Scheuermann noted that unscripted content is thriving and is here to stay and grow. “We’re producing for five networks in two markets, virtually covering them all: Imagen, Univisión, Televisa, Telemundo, and TV Azteca. We’re creating a variety of shows — long, short, large-scale, reality, dating, and competition formats. We’ve been extremely busy, with over a thousand hours of television produced this year, which shows the high demand for this content,” he explained.
He expects similar success next year, as all shows are performing well. “I believe at least 80% of the formats will return, given their strong performance.”
Scheuermann mentioned that the fifth season of La Casa de los Famosos (Telemundo) begins production early next year, with a likely third season of La Casa de los Famosos México and currently airing the second season of Los 50, with plans for a third. Enamorándonos is airing on Imagen until mid-next year, and we hope it will continue. We’re introducing a fresh season of MasterChef this year, with a few new twists while staying true to the format, creating an engaging version with TV Azteca,” he said.
Additionally, they plan to create a shorter version of Deal or No Deal Island, now in development for Univision, this year.
