Original products, with unseen or at least infrequent storytelling, and centered on three-dimensional, unique, deep, well-constructed characters is how Endemol Shine Boomdog assumes fiction production in a new stage led by Leonardo Zimbrón.
Zimbrón, Head of Fiction Programming at Endemol Shine Boomdog, explained that the hardest part is finding the writers for these stories. “There is a lot of talent, but the combination of the pen and the story must be chosen carefully,” he mentioned, after explaining that they have visited authors in the entire region, in Latin America, Spain, and also the US.
“We want to handle an array of projects that can cover the market´s current needs. It is a good moment, especially for the market in Spanish, but we must not forget the Latina part of the US,” he said, after commenting that they plan on producing projects in Spanish, but also in English or in both languages, according to the story´s requirements.
“I like character-driven stories, based on three-dimensional characters. If you stem from a good character in an interesting context, you have something to tell. If we see the results of the Emmys, the Golden Globes, what is awarded in television are productions that have the profile of stories centered on characters. I would like to follow that line, although I am sure that the market will continue spinning and we will talk about contextual, historical or current-day stories later on.”
