One of the main productions that Estudios RCN took to MIP Cancun, which it recently finished in Mexico, was Rigo, a biopic on the Colombian cyclist Rigoberto Uran que —according to Alex Marín, director of Estudios RCN—, is something that can appeal to many people, whether they like the sport or not, if they’re from that country or not: “It is one of the most impressive self-improvement stories on Earth”.

“This is the story of the three loves of Rigoberto Uran (Juan Pablo Urrego). His love for his father who was taken away from him by violence, because he was shot by paramilitary forces; his love for Michelle (Ana Maria Estupiñan), who has been helping him ride his bike since he is a small child, and his love for the bicycle, that has taken him to the world’s greatest podiums” he explained.

The telenovela is currently being aired at the same time in Colombia on Canal RCN, and in that country and the entire region on Prime Video. “It has had amazing success in both windows. They (Prime Video) have managed to have a product of tremendous quality on their platform. We have a worldwide distribution in Estudios RCN. We are pushing this window towards linear channels in Latin America” added Marin.

Rigo, directed by Juan Carlos Mazo and Catalina Hernandez, stands out, among other things, due to its cast, which includes actors of outstanding trajectory: Robinson Diaz, Sandra Reyes, Ramiro Meneses, Andrea Guzman, Mauricio Mejia, Yesenia Valencia, Julian Arango; and new Colombian talents such as Emmanuel Restrepo, Sebastian Gutierrez, Stephania Duque, and Elizabeth Chavarria, among others.

Aside from Rigo, in the recent market, RCN also included in its portfolio Tia Alison, Leandro Díaz and Ana de Nadie; regarding the latter, the Colombian company announced that Canal 13 Chile acquired it and will air it in 2024.
