Euronews: We plan to expand distribution in Colombia

Colombia is a key market for Euronews. “Our company has an important role to play in the region, being the only international media outlet available in the area that makes European news accessible to everyone, in Spanish,” said Sarah Mimouni, Distribution Manager for Latin America and out of home (OOH), Euronews.
Colombia has a population of 51 million, a unique position and many opportunities, due to these fact Euronews has plans to expand its distribution in Spanish through pay TV operators, cable associations, OTT platforms, schools and private and/or public universities, and also to cooperate with local TV channels and online media.
“In both the Colombian and South American markets, Euronews’ content in Spanish continues to be localized. According to an Euronews survey on consumer habits delivering local content in the local language deepens bonds with audiences. The study also showed that two out of three users prefer to consume content in their mother tongue (Source: Euronews Toluna Survey Dec 2020),” Mimmouni noted.
Euronews continues to develop its content offer in Spanish, focusing on offering all audiences in Latin America “an accessible and intercultural Europe.”
Brussels, My Love?, one of Euronews’ newest shows, delves into pressing issues discussed through a talk show format, providing audiences with a wide range of ideas and viewpoints. “This talk show, originally in English, now offers Spanish-speaking viewers compelling content fully dubbed into Spanish,” she said.
Mimouni announced that the channel expanded its distribution with pay TV operators and signed several agreements in Portuguese for the Brazilian market.
“Recently, our Spanish edition launched TV Digital in Bolivia and Cable Mundo in Peru. We want Euronews to be accessible to all audiences and markets globally,” she pointed out. She added that the channel also collaborates with Su Mundo TV in the Dominican Republic and Canal 26 in Argentina with daily news bulletins, premium shows and/or always-up-to-date content.
“Partners can bring unique revenue streams with Euronews live broadcasts, which is why our FAST channel, Euronews Español, continues to grow. It is available on Roku in Mexico and Pluto TV in Latin America. We also launched Euronews in Portuguese on Pluto TV Brazil and Euronews in English on ViX in the US and in Spanish in most of Spanish-speaking Latin America,” she concluded.
