In its second week of release, Caracol’s series Eva Lasting (La Primera Vez) for Netflix is among the world’s top 10 most viewed on the platform. With a total of 12,890,000 hours viewed, according to Netflix’s figures, the Colombian production ranks eighth on the list of non-English-speaking TV.
Created and written by Dago García, VP of production and content at Caracol TV, the show is also in Netflix’s top 10 in 14 countries including Mexico, Chile, Paraguay, El Salvador, Ecuador, Peru, Panama, Honduras, and Costa Rica, among others.
Set in the 1970s, this is Eva (Francisca Estévez) and Camilo’s love story. She is a mysterious, rebellious, and open-minded girl who is enrolled as the only woman in a school of 600 men. He is a peculiar and shy boy with no sentimental experience and inevitably falls in love with Eva, the first woman in his life. While Camilo tries unsuccessfully to win her heart, Eva turns the world of the Jose Maria Root Public School upside down, teaching her classmates all about sex, love, pleasures, and real life.
The series is directed by Mateo Stilverberg and María Gamboa, with Dago García, María Isabel Páramo, Amparo Gutiérrez, and Ángela Vergara as executive producers.
