The multimedia religious network EWTN seeks to consolidate its presence in Latin America with its signal El Canal Católico, achieving a penetration of between 60 and 80% in operators in the region, assured Claudio Ramírez, Marketing director at EWTN in Latin America, who added that the main focus in on the Pope´s trip around the world.
“In many countries we are on almost 100% of the operators. One example is Colombia, although there are others where it hasn´t been easy for us, but we have managed to be in around 60 to 80%, and that is where we will be careful. In Mexico, we are on almost all of them, but we are still missing Dish and Sky. In Argentina and Chile, we are doing very well, but we are still missing Claro South America. The goal is now OTTs,” explained the director.
He highlighted that, although their programming is varied (they have family programs, live programs, original productions and religious films, for which they acquired a lot of content), the main content comes from the Pope´s trip to different countries.
“Soon, Pope Francis will be in Colombia and our coverage will be very big. Since he travels very much, we are constantly behind him and cable operators that had never included us, are now doing so, and when seeing the huge audience they get, they stay with us,” he added.
Finally, he mentioned that the signal in the US has varied programming that is relevant for the Hispanic community, most of which is catholic, he assured.
