Exile Content Studio, recently founded by Isaac Lee -former director of Univisión and Televisa-, has just acquired the Mexican production house, Redrum. Stacy Perskie, Redrum founder will be the studio’s director along with her partners, including Adrian Grunberg, who currently runs Rambo 5.
Redrum has provided production services in Mexico for films such as Godzilla: King of monsters, Blade runner 2049, Bel canto, Specter and Elysium. While on television it has worked with Narcos: Mexico for Netflix and in the second season of Mozart in the jungle of Amazon Prime, among others. Also, they have worked on original productions such as Get the gringo, starring Mel Gibson.
Exile Content, which will have offices in Mexico and Los Angeles, was founded together with Daniel Eilemberg, former president and content director of Univision Fusion, and Alejandro Uribe, former VP of Corporate Strategy at Televisa, where he restructured Blim. In Exile, Eilemberg will be president of Content and Uribe, CEO.
Lee explained that they chose Redrum, because in Variety Exile will represent premium content, and this production house is the most experienced in the region, with the highest values. He also said that having Stacy, Eilemberg, Uribe, and Redrum managing their productions, ensures the quality of the project, and they hope to produce more movies and television series, taking advantage of the incentives that Mexico offers.
In addition, Uribe said the new company could be in the stage of advanced conversations with several platforms, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Apple, with OTT being its main clients, but would also like to open to cable companies such as HBO, Showtime, Starz and FX.
