FC Barcelona, led by its president Joan Laporta, along with Mas Ros Media and FiReSPORTS, have launched Barça Games, the first global video game platform created by a sports club.
Joan Laporta officially announced the launch, accompanied by Bryan Bachner, director of Barça Vision, and Marcelo Liberini, director of Barça Games. This new digital platform is a key project to bring together Barça fans worldwide, especially the younger generations, and to create the digital La Masía: the largest academy of gamers in the world.
“In November, we announced Barça Games, and after months of work, I can announce the launch of the first digital fan engagement platform. This is part of FC Barcelona’s commitment to advancing the virtual digital space. We will bring together Barça fans from all over the world into a digital community, especially the younger generations, to strengthen their sense of belonging to Barça. This is essential for the club’s growth,” said Laporta.
Bryan Bachner, director of Barça Vision, commented: “We need to change our digital strategy because it is becoming increasingly demanding and challenging. We need to create new virtual experiences and reach more markets. From Barça Vision, we are excited to present Barça Games. It is the first platform of its kind, and the club needs to drive the future digital space of Espai Barça.”
Finally, Marcelo Liberini, the director of Barça Games, reporting directly to Marcos Santana from Mas Ros Media and Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes from FiReSPORTS, explained that the app and platform will be for the community and fans, offering a wide range of minigames to improve skills and earn rewards.
During the event, it was announced that Barça Games is already available in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and some Latin American countries on iOS and Android. It will also be launched in Europe and the US in the next two months.
