Álvaro Sierra, director of France 24 en Español, told PRODU that since its launch in 2017 the signal was available through Claro TV as an optional offer, but since April 19, 2022 it became available for all users in our basic offer.
With this agreement, France 24 en Español is available in more than 4 million Colombian homes. Additionally, channels in French and English are also available in their International and Superior packages, respectively.
“This constitutes a very important step forward, allowing us to double the number of homes that we’re reaching. This deal adds up to the more than 40 that we already have throughout the region, thus consolidating the channel, thanks to offering to the Latin American audiences a different point of view on international events,” said Sierra.
“For us it is of great importance that Colombians can have access to objective information from communication media able to show without bias events occurring at the international and the national levels. This encouraged us to include France 24 in our basic offer, where all subscribers are offered a space for opinion, dissemination, debate, sports and culture. At Claro we constantly work to deliver the best content to our customers”, said Andrés Carlesimo, director of Claro Colombia’s Mass Market Products.
Finally, Sierra pointed out that when he joined the channel, 5 years ago, they only had six hours of broadcasting and since 2021 they cover 24 hours, which means not stretching out the programming, but adding new and better content, reinforcing the number of correspondents, in addition to the strong coverage they have in Africa, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
