After being presented to the industry in Canneseries, Aquí en la Tierra (8×60’) reached FOX Premium Friday, April 20 at 8pm, and its protagonist and director, Gael García, assured that this product arrives at a time of opening in TV and platforms. He said it will have a second season.
“This project is the result of endless chats among friends. We evaluated the idea of a story that happens in this political context and then FOX arrived, and we found a home for our production. It I a time in which this type of thing can be done, we can tell a controversial reality that can only be aired through fiction” explained Garcia, who also emphasized that it is the first series under the new production company Corriente del Golfo.
During the presentation, Édgar Spielmann, EVP, and COO at FOX Networks Group, Latin America mentioned that they have big expectations with this new production: “This product is aligned with what we are currently living in Mexico and Latin America. It is not simply a political film, it includes human drama, with topics of everyday life that affect us all.”
Finally, Jorge Stamadianos, Content Development VP at FOX Networks Group, said that despite being a political topic that is hard to deal with, “it was very relevant for Latin Americans, and we were brave to join the project. For us, Mexico is an important territory and we are doing local production, which, at the same time, becomes universal content.”
