The unification of Globo continues to shake the internal structure of the company. In the last few weeks, four mega-executives went out, and on Tuesday, December 1, seven veteran journalists.
Carlos Henrique Schroder (35 years in Globo), Director of Entertainment and Director of Content Creation and Production of Globo´s channels will leave in 2021. Ricardo Waddington, Director of Estudios Globo, on Tuesday, December 1, took over the helm of Entertainment, reporting to Schroder himself. Globo has not said if it will maintain the Content Creation and Production Direction but did announce that Schroder´s departure will bring more changes.
Silvio de Abreu (77 years of age), Director of the Dramaturgy Department since 2014, was replaced by José Luiz Villamarim (57 years old). Mónica Albuquerque is leaving the position she has held since 2013, and that will no longer exist: Head of Development and Artistic Accompaniment. The unification also implied position overlapping, and Sergio Valente, Communications Director, will be replaced by Manuel Falcão, from Globosat.
The seven journalists that were dismissed on Tuesday, December 1 are: Luis Fernando Silva Pinto (correspondent in Washington since 1986); Marco Antonio Rodrigues (41 years in Globo); Cristina Piasentini (12 years); Silvia Sayã (joined at the end of the 70s); María Thereza Pinheiro and Teresa Cavalleiro (led the area of Special Projects).
In January, the playwright Aguinaldo Silva was dismissed after 40 years in the TV company. Likewise, in May, the commercial area unified pay TV, streaming, and digital, with Eduardo Schaeffer as Director of Integrated Businesses in Advertising.
