Raúl Berdonés, founder and CEO of Grupo Secuoya, does not hesitate to say that 2023 will be the year of Secuoya Studios. “It is the year in which we’ll be at the forefront of Spanish-speaking studios worldwide.” In Content Americas they introduced the studio and from there in Hollywood.
They have +US$200 million in production projects. “We announce our first co-production with Sony Pictures of our first English-language series shot everywhere except Spain. I can’t reveal the title yet, but it will be a great production with a great budget and a great Hollywood director.”
Soon they’ll be announcing the second seasons of the series they have produced. They have already introduced the series Crudo with Caracol, a project with RCN, and an alliance with the Turkish production company Ay Yapim.
Secuoya has also put in place sustainable criteria for its productions. “We are strongly committed to sustainability. So much so that from the Secuoya Foundation, which does many things for the sector, we did the first protocol that brings together all the sustainable processes required by Sony, Disney, Amazon, and Netflix. We have wrapped them into one protocol certified by the Greenfilms company and also managed to get the first sustainability certifier in the world, the German Tüv Süd, to validate our protocol,” which can be downloaded here completely free.
In terms of talent training, they want to reach 6,000 students this year in Spain. They will also have agreements with universities in Mexico and Colombia to incorporate this trained talent into the industry.
