Juan Carlos Rodríguez is the new person responsible for Televisa Deportes, replacing Yon de Luisa, who was appointed President of the Mexican Soccer Federation (Federación Mexicana de Fútbol) in July last year. Rodríguez will be in charge of coordinating the production and distribution of all the sports content that the company makes on all its platforms.
Rodríguez will assume this position in Televisa, at the same time that he will continue as president of Univision Deportes, which will help him coordinate strategies and coverages in relevant sports topics, like the Russia Soccer World Cup.
In his new position, he will report directly to Televisa’s executive co-CEOs from Grupo Televisa, Alfonso de Angoitia, and Bernardo Gómez.
The experimented executive has generated important growth for Univision Deportes by expanding its presence in all of Univision’s platforms and has led Univision Deportes Network (UDN) to be one of the most rapidly growing sports signals, since its worldwide launch in 2012. He has also led UDN to be the main sports destination for Hispanics in the US.
Rodríguez began his career in Grupo Estadio and afterward was executive director at Televisa Deportes Network (TDN), where he grew the brand until turning it into one of the most well-known sports brands.
