Auditions for La academia 2011 had an impressive showing

On Sunday, August 21st, Azteca América brings back the most important musical platform in the Hispanic world, La academia.The auditions, which began four months ago and just ended, had a spectacular showing of a total of almost 428-thousand youngsters.Azteca América held castings in the U.S. in Oklahoma City, Dallas, San Antonio, Chicago, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Houston, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York.In Mexico, Central and South America, the castings broke attendance records. Just in Mexico City, more than 20-thousand people stood in line to audition. Over 65-thousand online applications were submitted for the judges’ consideration and the public’s vote.“We were more strict in the selection, but there is still an exquisite variety of people: those following their dreams and who will proudly represent us in this Academia 2011. Azteca América is very important for this Academia 2011,” said Alberto Santini Lara, Executive VP of Programming, Production and Marketing of Azteca América.Rafael Araneda will host the show again, and this season Bibi Gaytán will accompany him.Lola Cortés will stay in La academia, but she will now join the panel of judges alongside the “Iron judge,” Arturo López Gavito, as well as the maestro Chacho Gaytán.Singer and actor Eduardo Capetillo will direct this year’s edition of La academia.
