ITV Studios’ formats -among them the successful The voice and Alphabet game (Pasapalabra)- have a long-standing presence on open networks in Latin America such as Globo TV (Brazil), Caracol (Colombia), Azteca (Mexico), Telefe (Argentina) and others. Now, the company is in talks with various streamers to broaden its presence in the region.
“At the moment, Latin America seems to move faster than many other markets, due to the launch of streamers (Disney+, Paramount+, HBO Max, among others). This is impacting agreements structures, the delimitation of territories and exclusivity. It is a very dynamic and interesting time, which will have a future impact on our industry,” said Arjan Pomper, COO of Global Entertainment, ITV Studios.
Pomper, who reports to Maarten Meijs, President of Global Entertainment, ITV Studios, joined the company in mid-2020, when ITV Studios launched a new structure. The Global Entertainment division distributes the international unscripted formats of ITV Studios, Talpa Media, Armoza Formats, Twofour and ELK.
“As Global Entertainment, we have become a full partner for broadcasters and platforms, becoming more and more involved from the beginning of the process and adding value at any stage; from concept and development to pre-sales, sharing our creative and production expertise and opening business opportunities,” explained Pomper.
