Effective immediately, the U.S.-based digital media company Latin Everywhere has changed its name to Pongalo, bringing the entire organization under the consumer brand of its successful YouTube network and subscription OTT platform.
Pongalo owns one of the world’s largest IP libraries of digital rights to Spanish-language films and television shows. Wanting to move closer to its consumer, the company later used its content to launch a series of successful YouTube channels, all under the consumer name Pongalo.
Pongalo is now one of the most well-known Latino film and TV brands on YouTube, set to surpass 3 billion views this year. Its YouTube success has led it to launch a subscription OTT platform under the same Pongalo name, and the company’s massive YouTube audience separates it from other players who have recently announced upcoming moves in the Latino SVOD space.
“When we started this company two years ago, our goal was to put Latin content everywhere, so we called it Latin Everywhere. But after our Pongalo-branded YouTube channels took off, Pongalo became a brand loved by millions of Latino digital consumers,” said Pongalo Chairman Rich Hull and CEO Jorge Granier in a joint statement.
Today, it also announced additional capital infusions from mobile-focused private equity fund Digital Bridge, as well as Los Angeles-based digital media fund Canyon Creek Capital. Canyon Creek’s Buck Jordan will join former MTV Networks vice chairman Herb Scannell on Pongalo’s Board of Advisors.
Pongalo will use its new capital to launch its Pongalo SVOD platform with over 10,000 exclusive hours of premium titles, as well as to subsidize the premiere of original series on the Pongalo OTT platform. Pongalo’s subscription OTT platform will launch a preview later this month, and new content will be added each week.
