Latina’s upfront in Peru included its return to producing high-standard novels based on recognized books in alliance with Chile, which will be the great return to the production of fiction. They also announced a cooking contest format called El Gran Chef; a biopic of a popular Peruvian group; the talk show Punto Límite, from the creators of Caso Cerrado; as well as Duelo de Campeones, a contest between winners of programs with high resonance in the country such as Yo Soy or La Voz.
Luis Guillermo Camacho, Latina’s Programming and Content Manager, commented that the event, that took place on Thursday, January 26, coincided with their 40th anniversary, and included the rebranding of the channel’s image, the increase their own production, replacing great hits that are in the collective memory, such as El Narrador de Cuentos or Alf, in order to get closer to the audience.
“We are already developing the novel that will be a co-production, for which we have hired the scriptwriters. The idea is to make not one, but several productions and resume that process after six years. Another line of production is to make short novels based on Peruvian stories, like the biopic of the Peruvian musical group,” he explained.
The cooking show, El Gran Chef, is a Latina adaptation from an English show they acquired the rights to. “Duelo de Campeones is also our own development, and includes a competition between a talent, an impersonator, and a dancer, which we have thought of for the weekends, under the concept of putting together two or three talent contests. Since we have been the channel’s great developers of these formats, we have a number of people who want to compete,” Camacho explained.
By the end of the year they will develop a competition or coexistence reality show that will be very strong. “These formats are very popular in Peru and we are looking for this format, scheduled for the end of 2023,” he concluded.
