“For me, ¿Quién es Quién? has been very important because it is the first comedy I write without ´beating around the bushes´. There is always a bit of wariness when introducing comedy in the telenovela genre, because it is complicated, but this time we mixed comedy with traditional melodrama”, said Laura Sosa, writer of this successful Telemundo Studios piece.”Writing comedy is always a challenge, because you appeal to your viewers´intelligence, whereas with melodrama, you go straight to the heart, to emotions. Humor makes the brain work harder than the heart. And it is very fun to laugh your heart out when you’re writing. It’s very satisfying”, she added.Regarding changes that are taking place with the arrival of streaming, she expressed: “Reality has shaken us up as an industry. It has told us: either you renovate or you die. Entertainment contents are always going to be necessary. All we have to do is reinvent ourselves. What a writer does is explore human emotions, he will always do that because it is his job. We might have to adapt to new formats, maybe make stories shorter, but the essence of the occupation remains the same”. Sosa studied literature and acting in Mexico, and her first approach to the industry was with a script for a film in 1999. Then she entered Argos as an actress until she was invited to write and hasn´t ceased to do so since then.
