Lemon Studios prepares the story on the figure of Pancho Villa, a key piece in the Mexican Revolution, through the series Perros Negros, Before Villa, available in 2018 on Canal Once. The production house will also add a new production on prehispanic characters, for which they are closing deals, assured Billy Rovzar, co-founder, CEO, and producer of the company.
“Perros Negros will have two five-episode seasons, in which we will show the story of Pancho Villa’s origin when he was a child and went from being an illegitimate child called Doroteo Arango to being an essential part of the Mexican Revolution. It will all be told with young actors, between 19 and 20 years old, with contemporary music: rock, hip-hop and very good photography. The direction will be under the responsibility of Beto Gómez, who made Salvando Al Soldado Pérez with us. We are conducting the casting and finishing the scripts to begin pre-production in a month,” he commented.
Rovzar mentioned that to tell this story, the used documentaries and archives found on YouTube, as well as the more than 40 anecdotes on this character and his gang of friends, called Perros Negros.
The producer mentioned that this year, as well as this miniseries, they will develop a super production, together with one of the biggest digital platforms, and another one, whose main characters will be prehispanic characters, but he didn’t reveal more details about either.
