Accidente (10×60′), a limited series created by Leonardo Padrón (Pálpito), will debut globally on Netflix on August 21.
Starring Ana Claudia Talancón, Sebastián Martínez, Alberto Guerra, Eréndira Ibarra, and Erick Elías, with an ensemble cast including Erik Hayser, Macarena García, Sebastián Dante, Regina Blandón, Rubén Zamora, Valentina Acosta, Shaní Lozano, Silverio Palacios, and Luis Ernesto Franco, Accidente tells the story of ordinary people thrown into extraordinary circumstances. A catastrophic event on a celebratory day forces them to confront their deepest selves.

“An accident is essentially a catalyst for exploring deeper issues, such as how we cope with and recover from personal tragedies. Humans are incredibly resilient, a fact that’s well-documented. I’m focusing on four families to examine how they respond differently to a shared ordeal. This approach is compelling because it combines elements of a thriller, with numerous mysteries to unravel. Accidents often have a human element, and in this case, there’s a clear indication of human responsibility for the incident,” Padrón told PRODU.
In Accidente, directed by Gracia Querejeta and Klych López, the primary focus is the characters’ internal journeys as they grapple with grief, pain, and anger. “Their relationships with God, faith, and their partners are put to the test. Such events often either devastate or strengthen marriages,” Padrón explained.
For Padrón, the aftermath of the accident unfolds into a complex and captivating story. “The plot is meticulously crafted with numerous twists and turns that will surprise audiences at every turn. I invested significant effort in the narrative structure to create a rollercoaster of emotions that keeps viewers engaged,” he said.
Padrón described the cast as “luxurious” and “dreamlike.” “As a writer, I couldn’t be more thrilled with what Netflix helped me achieve here. Being surrounded by such talented actors like Sebastián Martínez, Ana Claudia Talancón, Alberto Guerra, Eréndira Ibarra, Eric Hayser, Erick Elías, and Shaní Lozano, who had a massive hit with Madre en Alquiler last year, is incredible. Having such a phenomenal cast means we can expect intensely dramatic scenes and exceptional production quality.”

Padrón also praised the directing team, which combined Latin American and European perspectives. Colombian director Klych López and Spanish director Gracia Querejeta brought unique viewpoints to the project. “I believe these different perspectives significantly enhanced the script,” he said.
