In the context of the inauguration of the first class of the Telemundo Global Studios scholarship program (TGS Fellowship), Marcos Santana, president of TGS announced that they hope to increase the production of drama to 1,100 hours, “a gigantic volume that the company has never produced,” he added, and recalled that due to the fact that formats have become smaller (10, 13, 60 and 80 episodes per project) “the volume has increased and will continue to increase,” he sentenced. Currently, the studios produce 800 hours a year
Santana thanked César Conde, Chairman of NBCUniversal International Group and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, the support for TGS Fellowship to become a reality. “It is not easy to materialize initiatives of this sort, and more so when they are visionary and require a great deal of passion,” further explained Santana.
He mentioned that since day one Conde molded the studios so that they had the capacity to satisfy the content required by the network and third parties. “A studio as competitive as any first-rate studio. It is a new initiative, born barely three and a half years ago and today our contents compete with any non-linear platform. We are the only studio that produces in front and behind cameras with Latinos: from Mexico to Argentina. It is not only Hispanic, but it is also Hispanic-American,” he said.
He told the fellows: “Today you arrive here not only to learn but to contribute from the first day. You have the important experience, you are intelligent, brilliant people, with a fresh vision and you feel identified with what we have been doing”.
He ended highlighting that “our umbrella has grown and we have arrived in Spain. We just finished a fantastic series three weeks ago 25% of which was shot in Mexico and the rest in Madrid. We will launch it very soon and are in the middle of postproduction. I have no doubt you are in the best place to grow, to grow with us. A moment when everything is changing and in which people, regardless of their cultural universe want to see things made well. The mandate in this company is to be efficient and do things very well in a context of ethics and transparency, that is what is needed and that each one of you is going to contribute to the company”.
