After only three years on the air in Latin America, the signal of Telemundo Internacional has a unique positioning.“It ranks seventh among pay-TV entertainment channels in Mexico, and has been a total success in Venezuela,” said to PRODU Marcos Santana, President of Telemundo Internacional.“I had to re-launch this channel from scratch. With last year’s addition of Karen Barroeta as head of the channel, it has shown great improvement. In just three years, Telemundo Internacional has become a great pay-TV brand in Latin America,” said Santana.Amid its success, the channel reaches a new milestone: it launches in Africa on August 12th with two full HD feeds: one in English, and the other in Portuguese exclusively for Angola and Mozambique. “We’ve been working on this project for a couple of years with our mother company NBCUniversal. We’re very proud to be part of the catalog of global channels of NBCUniversal. Jeff Shell, Kevin McLellan and especially Belinda Menéndez, have believed in the project and supported the launch of the channel in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa,” said Santana enthusiastically. In the near future, the channel will also launch in Europe and Southern Asia.Telemundo Africa will be a completely different signal from its Latin America counterpart. While Latin America features more varied content, Africa will be devoted exclusively to telenovelas, launching with Rosa Diamante, Aurora, La Casa De Al Lado and Mi Corazón Insiste.
