Braga: Muy emocionados en transformar la parrilla y la marca Azteca America

Developing the Spanish-language drama in the U.S. is a concept that motivates Marlene Braga, VP of Programming for Azteca America. “Now we can’t talk about this market thinking only about telenovelas and soccer, because there’s a lot beyond that that we should explore” the executive expressed to PRODU. Azteca America will be developing a dramatic series with Sony USHispanic, as the company mentioned to PRODU this past July. “We’re continuing to develop editorial content for the drama series. We’re working to form an original production under the creative direction of Veronica Pimstein, creative senior VP of Sony Pictures Television Production Latin America & US Hispanic. The team at Sony in Miami in charge of concept development for the Hispanic market of the U.S. will soon be producing a pilot” he indicated. Marlene Braga considers the market too saturated with telenovelas. “We’re aiding the golden age of Spanish-language drama in U.S.” she said. “The market demands innovation, and consumers are getting used to good quality productions” she added. The new series combines scientific investigation and a very current issue: white slavery. “We’re continuing to support new genres” Braga confirms. The network is examining the possibilities of working with a Colombian channel, and all possible associations to be able to produce something spectacular, she said.
