Telefe, a Viacom company, and Grupo Mediapro signed an agreement for the co-production of an 8-episode series called Los Internacionales, based on the book titled La Conexión Bogotá by Nahuel Gallotta. The trailer will be presented at LA Screenings 2018.
Mediapro Argentina will be the production company in charge of filming the series and the scenes will be shot in Spain, Colombia and Argentina. Telefe projects the launch of the series for 2019.
“We are very excited with this alliance with Telefe to tell this extraordinary story. It is a step further in our bet on talent in Argentina, a country that has always stood out as a great story generator, always in the aim to develop premium content for the world from Latin America,” commented Javier Méndez Zori, Head of Content at Mediapro.
“This project represents an important bet for us to position ourselves as a studio beyond the Argentinean market. From the books to the direction, including talents and the aesthetics of the making, it is conceived as cinema-quality content that can travel around the world. We trust the work capability jointly with Mediapro to raise the bar,” added Guillermo Borensztein, Content Sales and Co-production VP at Viacom International Media Networks Américas.
Viacom will have exclusive distribution and exploitation rights in America, and Mediapro will distribute throughout the rest of the world. Both companies hope to make a franchise with the upcoming seasons in other cities around the world.
