The Mediapro Studio Argentina & Chile and VICE Studios reached an agreement to co-produce the series El Acantilado (The Cliff), a crime thriller set in Patagonia currently under development to be shot on location in Chile.
The series is created by Martin Hodara, Tomas Coste and Enrique Videla. The project won the Argentine National Film Board’s (Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales de Argentina- INCAA) Development Award.
Nacho Gil has been named executive producer on El Acantilado, with executive co-producers Maximiliano Sanguine and Jimena Hernandez.
The series, which is defined as a Patagonia noir genre, was inspired by the Aysén case, a true story that horrified people in the region after the deaths of several young men in the remote Chilean Patagonia between 1997 and 2001.
“The Mediapro Studio is very proud to announce our latest project in Argentina and Chile and to be working in association with VICE Studios, who contribute their very own unique style of storytelling, and whose hallmarks of quality and cutting-edge productions are a perfect match with our own,” mentioned Laura Fernández Espeso, Corporate & TV director of The Mediapro Studio.
“We’re excited to be realizing the vision of creative minds the likes of Martín Hodara, in an innovative project such as this Patagonia Noir, in association with a partner like The Mediapro Studio, who bring their wealth of experience in series production to the table,” added Andrés Reymondes, CEO of VICE U.S. Hispanics & Latam.
