Megan Espinoza and Moisés Amsel, previous directors of Development, were promoted to VPs of Film and Television Development in Gato Grande’s Anglo division. In their new positions, they will be responsible for the daily operations of the new unit, focusing on the creation of original intellectual property in English for both TV and film, sourced from Latin American IP. Gato Grande is an Amazon MGM Studios company.
Espinoza will center on comedy and Young Adult content for both TV and Film, starting with the recently unveiled satirical mystery series Miami Spice, based on the novel Mango, Mambo, and Murder from author Raquel V. Reyes’ celebrated Caribbean Kitchen Mystery book series. Amsel will oversee drama and thriller projects for all media, including the previously announced adventure/survival drama series Clipperton, based on the best-selling Colombian author Laura Restrepo’s debut novel, The Isle of Passion.
Moisés Amsel is of Venezuelan origin. He is a passionate filmmaker and entertainment professional with a great eye for storytelling. A graduate of USC Law School and alumnus of the Stella Adler Academy, he has extensive experience in development, production, performance, and entertainment law. Moisés has found a professional and creative home at Gato Grande, where the vision of creating premium content and highlighting Latin voices aligns with his personal goals. Today, Moisés strives to explore, discover, and develop innovative stories that could lay the foundation for a new era of American cinema.
Megan Espinoza was born in Los Angeles and lived her post-college years in Santiago, Chile. Upon returning to Los Angeles, she ventured into the literary management industry, later joining television development in the drama and comedy departments at Warner Bros. Studios. Megan later became director of Development at Ted Melfi’s Goldenlight Films, where she shepherded film and television projects through development and production. At Gato Grande, Megan is thrilled to be able to combine her love for premium content with her passion for bringing stories to life from unique and plural perspectives.
