MGM Worldwide Television Distribution continues the strong growth of its premium television and feature film offerings with the launch of two new scripted television series and two new feature films at MIPCOM 2018.
New television series include Four Weddings and a Funeral based on the hit British comedy film and written and executive produced by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton; and Ben Kingsley, Jimmi Simpson and Jacki Weaver star in the modern noir drama series Our Lady, LTD, which follows James, a young grafter, as he attempts to prey upon Pastor Byron Brown (Kingsley), who turns out to be far more dangerous than he suspects; and full episodes of the 10-part television event The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair fresh off the series’ hit premiere in the UK. The series, based on Joël Dicker’s best-selling European novel, stars Patrick Dempsey, Ben Schnetzer, Damon Wayans Jr., and Virginia Madsen and is directed by award-winning director Jean-Jacques Annaud.
Also highlighted are the star-studded spy thriller Condor starring Max Irons, actors William Hurt and Mira Sorvino, based on the novel Six Days of the Condor by James Grady and screenplay Three Days of the Condor by Lorenzo Semple Jr. and David Rayfiel; the dark comedy Get Shorty, a reimagining of Elmore Leonard’s best-selling novel starring Ray Romano and Chris O’Dowd; and the reboot of The Contender franchise executive produced by Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Voice, Shark Tank) and hosted by retired and undefeated champion Andre Ward.
New film titles include the thriller The Girl in the Spider’s Web based on the global bestseller by David Lagercrantz, with Sony Pictures, starring Claire Foy, available in select territories and the animated action/comedy The Addams Family based on the famous New Yorker creations of Charles Addams featuring the voices of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler and Allison Janney.
