Peter Blacker, EVP of Digital Media and Emerging Businesses at NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, announced that in 2018 they would have the World Cup.
The executive, who received the PRODU Award EN VIVO in the Enterprises section, Open TV Best Use of Transmedia category, commented that they are dedicating all their efforts to the World Cup.
“We are going to offer a version of the World Cup that has never existed in the past, full of social media, mobile media,” recognizing that their audiences are going to choose the best screen available.
Blacker, who has been in Telemundo for 12 years, added that they “are going to be very innovative in how to broadcast that World Cup, and are going to have more hours”.
On the other hand, he explained that Telemundo Now offers a way to watch programs when and how you want, on any platform, and it is on-demand.
“It helps us to have the support of our parent company Comcast, that has always been a leader in that area, and we have done some very innovative and interesting things with them. It is strong and very important part of the business”.
According to him, this is a very nice time in which they are truly working on transmedia. “There isn’t a single screen, they are all united. The audience and the sponsors, see us as a media company.”
