Of the 64 matches of the 2023 Australia and New Zealand Women’s World Cup, 33 will be broadcast live on Telemundo. “It is a great demonstration of Telemundo’s commitment to the tournament. We will present more than 550 hours of content between games, pre- and post-match coverage, and original programming around the event,” said Eli Velázquez, Executive VP of Sports at Telemundo in the context of a virtual meeting with the media to provide final details about the Cup that starts next Thursday 20.
Velázquez added that a team of 350 people distributed in Australia, New Zealand and Miami will be participating in the tournament’s broadcast, and around 20 talents among commentators, presenters and journalists.
Ana Jurka and Miguel Gurwitz will be the hosts from Australia and Carlos Yustis and Carlota Vizmanos from New Zealand. Andrés Cantor, Chief Soccer Commentator at Telemundo Deportes will narrate all games of the US national team, some from Argentina, among others. Cantor expressed during the presentation that he is very excited about the deployment that Telemundo is doing for this women’s tournament and that the event will be very exciting now that there are 32 teams and the fact that it is held in two venues simultaneously. “More than one million tickets have already been sold for the tournament,” he said.
Peter Lazarus, EVP of Advertising Sales and Alliances at NBC Sports, said that all key advertising spaces for the Cup are already fully sold and announced that Ford Motor Company will be the presenter of the Pre-Game Show, Volkswagen will sponsor halftime, and Xfinity the highlights show Zona Mixta.
