Netflix revealed they have an algorithm that analyzes the preferences of the more than 100 million members the platform has, in the aim to make content recommendations based on the needs of 250 million profiles, assured Chris Jaffe, the company Innovation VP.
The executive explained that they have hundreds of people analyzing the series and films and they relate them with users´ preferences: “Netflix is personalized TV thought for users. They and their behavior are the most important thing: what they watch, when and how. Personalization is the key to everything,” he commented.
He highlighted that recent views are what determine recommendations and suggestions are recalculated every 24 hours: “Due to consumption changes, we knew we had to personalize content. Currently, users have the opportunity to create up to five different profiles that are the key for recommendations”.
