Nickelodeon Latin America and Somos Productions has been working on the preparation of the new youth series Vikki RPM (60×60’) for nearly a year and a half, and the launch in the region is estimated for mid-July.
“Vikki RPM is the nineteenth name the series has had. We had never had so many problems to register a title like this, because we found out there were so many titles registered in the world of karting that we had to end up calling it like the star of the program. Somos brought the project, the concept to us and we loved it. What appeals the most to us are original and different worlds and we realized we had never ventured into the world of extreme sports and that karting is very trendy in Latin America,” expressed Tatiana Rodríguez, Senior VP of Kids & Family for Nickelodeon Latin America.
For her part, Mary Black, VP and executive producer at Somos Productions, highlighted that the shootings will be carried out in 13 sets located in Viacom International Studios (VIS), 10 in studio 2, and three in the surroundings. Exterior shootings are being carried out in the Homestead karting track. “120 people comprise the production group, including technicians and actors,” she said.
Rodríguez added that there is a complete digital strategy around Vikki RPM. “For the first time we are launching a story that runs parallel to the series, in which we tell the past of characters in the digital world. It is going to be called La Velocidad de la Luz”.
