At a time when platforms and channels prefer playing safe with successful and proven franchises, Nippur Media is producing two projects for Netflix and one for Prime Video, in addition to another season of Mexicánicos. They can do this thanks to its track record and demonstrated quality in producing this type of content.
Gerardo Brandy, director of Nippur Media, said they have found their space in the middle of a challenging year for the industry. He explained that the crisis strengthened the company’s bases in 2022 due to the overproduction of content, in which they produced more projects than needed. This lack of clarity on the horizon had consequences in the following years since the platforms already had all their content in line to premiere. “I would say that in 2023 and 2024, we will be paying for the 2022 party,” he said.
He considers that Nippur Media was lucky to know how to adapt. “We have the waist and the wrist to see what the industry is giving us. We are a content production house that develops and produces content. We are a production company proud of producing well-known brands for years. We do Supervivencia al Desnudo for Brazil and Mexico and Dual Survival for Brazil and Mexico; we are producing the ninth season of Mexicanos, all of these projects for Warner Bros. Discovery. We did Siempre Reinas for Netflix, we created and produced it; we are about to release a reality show for Prime Video that we understand is going to be a hit, and I hope we have more seasons,” he said, adding that they have been making this type of content for 14 years and are known in the industry for that.
“Production houses are looking to partner with us and develop large projects. In that framework, we have two additional projects for Netflix that I can’t talk about. This is how we spent 2023, and the same thing will end up happening in 2024, knocking on doors with innovative projects and ideas, because at some point, all the players will finish settling in, and once again, we will be able to do what we like the most: creative, new and diverse content,” he said.
Brandy said that 2024 will be better for Nippur Media than 2023. “Thanks to what we have sown and the prestige we have earned in the industry.”
