After 12 years of working in TelevisaUnivision, most recently as president of Global Sports Business, Juan Carlos Rodríguez Bas is leaving the company and Ólek Loewenstein, current president of Sports Content, will assume the role of president of Sports.
Loewenstein has more than 10 years in the industry with a “unique vision for the consumption of multi-platform sports content,” highlights a company’s statement.
Loewenstein is, effective immediately, responsible for all areas related to the acquisition of sports rights across TelevisaUnivision. This includes the management of existing and future sports rights, all sports content partners, and any business development related to sports. Loewenstein will also continue to work closely with TelevisaUnivision networks in the U.S. and in Mexico, and with the global streaming service ViX, continuing to grow the value of their sports rights portfolio and the power that live sports brings to their global business.
“The achievements in TUDN under the management of Juan Carlos Rodríguez have always been very outstanding. We thank him for his leadership and his professional contribution over more than ten years,” said Alfonso de Angoitia, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of TelevisaUnivision.
“We are going to miss him and I am sure that his successes will continue in the new projects that he is about to undertake,” said Emilio Azcárraga, Executive President of the Board of Televisa.
“If it weren’t for the vision, talent and teamwork that Juan Carlos carried out over the years, we would not have the sports leadership that we have today. We are very grateful. Juan Carlos says goodbye to carry out important personal projects, but for some time he will be with us in an administrative transition process to ensure, among other things, that TelevisaUnivision audiences enjoy the best and widest coverage of the Qatar 2022 World Cup and of other international sporting events,” expressed Bernardo Gómez, co-president of TelevisaUnivision México and member of the Board of Directors of TelevisaUnivision.
