Olympusat is betting heavily on the distribution of international programming that offers a window into different eras and cultures.
“At Olympusat we have invested to offer these great productions in different languages -Spanish, Portuguese, and English- through high-quality dubbing, making them easy to access for everyone to enjoy,” says Jasmine Rezai, VP of Content Sales and Acquisitions of Olympusat.
For international screenings, Olympusat introduced to content that shows the depth and breadth of the programming they offer. “High-quality programming representing different genres and the best we have from the Americas and abroad, in series and movies.”
They introduced three series: the drama Amor en Cadenas (seasons 1 and 2, 48×45 ‘) from Ukraine, dubbed into Spanish by Olympusat for distribution in the Americas, and which has been a phenomenon among Ukraine and Poland audience, and is also broadcasted in Spain, the Czech Republic., Russia, Lithuania and Kazakhstan; the crime and thriller series Los Internacionales (8×60′) (2020), and the science fiction and fantasy series Cazador de Demonios (55×45′). Also two films: the drama Gritos en Silencio and the trilogy of family films, comedy, and adventure, Dummie la Momia.
For Rezai, Amor en Cadenas, where the protagonist fights for her freedom, taking the audience back to the mid-nineteenth century, has great potential for the market because it has become an international success due to the chemistry of the main characters and the opening that Turkish productions have had to international content.
“The pandemic accelerated many trends and one of them is the adoption of international content. With more entertainment platforms and more time spent at home, people have been willing to give international content a chance, even if it is not produced in their country. And with the increased use of social media over the past year, there are more recommendations online for content. So it’s no surprise that overseas content is becoming an integral part of what they see and demand on their screens,” she says.
