Inés Havraneg, Content Director of Onza Américas, is attending MIP Cancun to seek co-production opportunities and strategic partnerships, particularly in the realm of fiction, which is her primary focus.
Havraneg told Ríchard Izarra on EN VIVO that Onza Américas has been operating for three years, starting with the series Isla Brava, their first success for ViX. The company is heavily focused on the Mexican market, seeking content and partnerships. She also teased the upcoming second season of Isla Brava.
Havraneg emphasized that Onza Américas’ significant presence in Spain, particularly the Basque Country, offers attractive production incentives from Bilbao. They are already relocating numerous Mexican productions to the region. She also noted that the first season of Isla Brava was filmed in the Canary Islands.
“It’s about leveraging the natural synergies between the two territories within Onza, sharing a common language but distinct cultural nuances. We’ve honed our collaborative approach over the past three years. While we initially focused on series, we’ve expanded into feature films this year. Our portfolio is quite diverse, encompassing a range of genres and formats, including series and several promising feature film projects,” she explained.
She also mentioned that Harvey Grisalez, Senior VP of Onza Américas, overseeing non-fiction, entertainment, and docu-follow, and Carlos Garde, General Manager and head of distribution, were also present at MIP Cancun.
