The main offer of Onza Distribution in MIPCOM 2018 is Pequeñas Coincidencias (Small Coincidences) (8×50′), co-produced with Atresmedia and Medio Limón, that will debut in Amazon in November and afterward will be screened by Atresmedia.
“From Onza Distribution we are managing all international rights of this romantic comedy. We are in talks for this format in the US and we believe that both the can and the format can work well because it is not a Spanish style comedy” said Jessica Ortiz, director of Onza Distribution.
The projects with which Onza gets involved are aligned with the international market. “Everything we are producing now is thinking about the international market. We look for short series that run well in both linear and platform.”
In their catalog, they also include a battery of titles of Portuguese novels, because they managed the distribution of contents of TVI. Valor de Vida (Value of Life), Oro Verde (Green Gold) – nominated for an Emmy – and La Impostora (The Impostor), which premiered last year, titles with which they seek to expand into the Latin American market.
“The Latin American market is saturated with Turkish soaps, that’s why Onza’s mission is to find space for the Portuguese telenovela, which in Portugal is a leader with the primetime audience, has high production values and is usually shot in more than one territory. But this is a very complicated market,” Ortiz added.
