“Empowering diverse and powerful dynamic voices, give women a platform for their stories, and provide audiences with a glimpse into different worlds and discover common humanity is our goal. Giving purpose to our platform is essential to our mission,” said Paul Buccieri, president of A+E Networks, who -in the framework of MipTV- was presented with the MIP SDG Award 2021, launched by Reed Midem with the support of the United Nations Organization (UN)
Buccieri was recognized for working towards goal 10 – reducing social inequality – which is part of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN.
“Since Buccieri was appointed president of A+E in 2018, he ensured that D&I were an integral part of the company’s cultural fabric. He supported and encouraged the group’s networks to address such controversial issues as social diversity, gender equality, and sexuality with shows that include Surviving R. Kelly and Surviving Jeff Epstein; Broader Focus of Lifetime and Voices magnified of A&E,” said Lucy Smith, director of MipTV.
Melissa Fleming, UN Undersecretary-General for Global Communications, thanked Buccieri for his work and urged TV companies to display a television broadcast for the common good.
