Starlings Television currently has two successful dramatic series in second seasons in the US: Pandora on The CW and Departure on Peacock. Chris Philip, president of Starlings Entertainment is the executive producer of both projects.
Philip says that Mark A. Altman, showrunner of Pandora, together with Thomas P. Vitale, a former Universal and Syfy Channel executive, sent him the script of Pandora and he loved it. “We presented it to The CW and they ordered the first season. We had numerous offers for the distribution and finally chose Sony, which has done a great job selling it worldwide,” he detailed.
The first season was produced last year and aired on The CW like a summer series. The channel rapidly ordered a second season.
“Pandora has a solid base of ardent fans and has appeared prominently in San Diego and NY Comic Cons, where it was screened in full theaters. The series is also represented by a big licensee, and Pandora products will be distributed worldwide as of next year” he furthered.
He added that the second season was produced during COVID-19 with all the possible safety protocols and they finished the program this summer without any problems. “Pandora is one of the first TV series in the US produced during the pandemic. All the episodes were delivered to The CW that now airs it as one of its big programs this season. Based on its performance and viewers` acceptance, we are optimistic that the series will continue for more seasons,” he ended.
