Spanish-language premium streaming service Pantaya announced the premiere of its latest original unscripted series Chaparreando starring Mexican superstar Omar Chaparro. 3Pas Studios’ Derbez and Ben Odell serve as executive producers along with Chaparro.
The series will premiere on October 15th on Pantaya in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Chaparreando follows Omar Chaparro (No Manches Frida franchise) and his teenage son, Emiliano, on an epic motorcycle journey through Mexico. Omar shares the striking countryside and colorful characters of his native state of Chihuahua to teach his son about his own roots. The two find more than just wild moments and big laughs – they find each other.
“Omar is a friend and constant collaborator with us at 3Pas. He’s a comedic force of nature but this show is not just funny as hell, it’s an immigrant’s love letter to his country,” said Odell and Derbez.
“Omar has been a great partner on No Manches Frida, Overboard and other Pantelion hits, and the Pantaya team has been searching for the right vehicle for him. We were happy to find it on his own motorcycle! Collaborating on Chaparreando with 3Pas, Omar, and his son Emiliano, and the production team was a joy and we know audiences will share that excitement when they watch with their own families,” said Mario Almeida, Pantaya VP of Programming, Development, and Acquisitions.
The unscripted 6-episode family-friendly series will premiere its first two episodes on Pantaya on October 15th, followed by a weekly episode every Thursday. The series will available to binge on November 12th. Chaparreando will also be available in Latin America at a later date with a partner to be announced.
