José Iñesta, director of Pixelatl, reported that the main and most relevant players in the animation market will be on the eighth edition of the Festival de animación, cómic y videojuegos Pixelatl, to be held in Cuernavaca, Mexico, between September 3 and 7.
“The entire global animated television industry is coming, including, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Discovery, all the divisions of Disney, CBS, along with brands such as Mattel, Hasbro and all the platforms, and the most important studios,” he explained, after highlighting that one of the characteristics of this event is the attendance of the company heads or those who make decisions.
He stated that last year more than three thousand people attended and that this year they expect a similar number, because they prefer the event to remain within the quality parameters that have characterized it. He highlighted that the accreditations for those who attend the market will have the opportunity to attend meals and social events with the great representatives and network presidents.
This edition will be dedicated to Spain, country that will have a delegation of 20 people who represent 15 animation studios. During the event, there will be discussion panels, master classes and conferences. The attendance of 10 animation studios from the region, as well as four prominent animated film artists is expected.
Twelve finalist projects from the Ideatoon contest will be on the Pixelatl Market. Those selected were part of the three-day intensive Boot Camp with six mentors from England, the US, Canada and Brazil, out of a total of 24 projects, chosen among 341, that applied from 12 countries.
“We already have six animated series in production that have resulted from the event. One of them is Villanos, from Cartoon Network,” stated Iñesta, after clarifying that those who are chosen will take part in a pitch with the main companies: “This event is an excellent opportunity for creators, but also for producers and studios that provide services,” he added.
